YMCA Awards Level 3 Award in Sports Conditioning

 



As a gym instructor or personal trainer, it is inevitable that at some point you will work with clients who have sports specific goals and requirements. Whether these are professional athletes or recreational performers, you will want to be fully equipped to meet the demands of the client(s) and their sport(s). You may even want to add variety to your sessions for clients with goals that are not sports orientated. Either way, this course will give you the knowledge and skills to take your programming and delivery to the next level. 

Entry requirements

  • Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing - Gym-Based Exercise (or equivalent)
  • It is also recommend that learners also complete the Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training (or equivalent) prior to taking this qualification

 Who is the course suitable for?

This course is suitable for anyone wanting to design and deliver sports specific training to clients ranging from recreational sports performers up to professional athletes. It is also a great way to expand your programming knowledge to make training more fun and challenging.

Course content

  • How to collect information relating to clients and their choice of sporting event;
  • How to analyse and break down sporting activities from the perspective of fitness and conditioning;
  • How to utilise a range of sport specific training methods; and
  • Planning relevant conditioning activities for participants in sports/events.
